Wellington City Council LIM reports explained

A LIM for a property in Wellington city comes from Wellington City Council. Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast each have their own council, and a LIM there comes from that council.

This guide is general information, not advice for your situation.

Fees are for a residential property and include GST. Commercial properties cost more.

Councils can change their fees, so check the council's own page before you order.

With your application, Wellington City Council needs a record of title for the property that is less than three months old: either 'Current with diagram' or 'Guaranteed Search', which you can buy from Land Information New Zealand.

The council acknowledges each application by email and emails the LIM to the address you give. A LIM usually takes up to 10 working days, and the council's timeframes don't apply from 20 December to 10 January.

Wellington City Council's LIMs don't include building permit and consent plans or documents. The council provides those through a separate building consent search.

Wellington's planning rules are in Wellington City Council's District Plan.
